Curriculum

At Shades Crest Baptist Weekday Early Education Program, we are committed to excellence in the field of early childhood education. Our curriculum is based on a developmental approach to the following areas when planning activities for our classrooms-cognitive, language, science, social, motor, music, art, and character.  By creating repetitive and multi-sensory experiences for children at each of the developmental stages, we encourage all the children entrusted to our care to develop to the best of their ability, helping to secure them on a path of success in all of their future endeavors.

“Play with a purpose” is the fundamental method of  our teaching and learning in the program.   In addition, all of the classes in a specific age group work on the same theme at the same time to create continuity as the child progresses in our program. Classroom routines are designed to provide consistency and predictability for our children. Each day our students enjoy committed times of group interaction, individual instruction and independent play.  In addition, children experience enrichment classes in art, music, Spanish and movement.  We begin our week for preschoolers with a special Chapel experience introducing our Bible Story and biblical theme for the week.
